AME CET

AME CET - Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Common Entrance Test is a national-level entrance examination that serves as a gateway to some of India's leading aviation institutes, colleges, and universities. It's designed for students who wants to build a career in the skies, whether that means flying an aircraft, maintenance, or managing the operations that keep the industry running. Through AME CET, students can get admission to various aviation programs like Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME), Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Cabin Crew, Airport Management, and several other aviation-related programs.

To make aviation education more accessible, AME CET offers scholarships of up to 100% to qualified students based on their all india rank (AIR). This means meritorious students get the chance to pursue quality education without being held back by financial constraints.

AME CET conducts the examination on behalf of its partner institutes and offers admission on the basis of the AME CET All India Rank. Students can choose an aviation institute or university to pursue their preferred aviation course. The institute under AME CET are approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Government of India (DGCA), the University Grants Commission of India (UGC), and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

But AME CET's role extends far beyond admissions and scholarships. It also guides students toward the aviation course best suited to their interests, strengths, and the industry's evolving demands. In doing so, AME CET connects talented students with some of the country's finest institutes, colleges, and universities — building a pipeline of skilled, industry-ready professionals for the fast-growing global aviation sector.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions from students about AME CET and aviation careers.

Degree or license — which one is AME?

License. Specifically a DGCA license, which lets you certify that an aircraft is airworthy. Not a B.Tech, even though people assume that a lot.

Eligibility for AME, Pilot Training, or Aeronautical Engineering — what's needed?

For technical courses, 10+2 with PCM is standard. Some management roles don't stick to that rule though. Better to check per course.

Course duration — how long are we talking?

AME: roughly 2-3 years, then practical training on top. Pilot training doesn't have a fixed number, depends on flying hours. Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering follows the normal 4-year B.Tech path.

Fees — what should I expect?

Pilot training gets expensive because of aircraft and flying hour costs. AME and engineering fees change from institute to institute — worth comparing a few before deciding.

Scholarships through AME CET — are they a thing?

Yes, tied to your performance in AME CET and counselling. But availability shifts yearly, and institutes have their own policies too.

Commerce or arts background — can that still lead to aviation?

Yes. Ground Staff, Cabin Crew, Airport Management — these don't ask for PCM. AME, Pilot Training, core Engineering — these do.

Guidance for choosing the right course — where do I get that?

A counselling call is the way to go. They'll factor in your interests, budget, eligibility, and suggest what fits.
