Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Admission Eligibility in DGCA Approved AME institutes in India

AME is the branch of engineering which deals with the maintenance and repair of aircrafts.AME has to keep the aircraft in an ideal condition. The safety and security of aircrafts and its passengers are in hands of AME. No civil aircraft can fly without the AME’s Certificate. Before aircrafts fly it should be verified by licensed AME. Candidate can get admission in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) through Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Common Entrance TEST (AME CET).
Course Details & Eligibility
The candidates who desire to be an AME have to fulfill following eligibility:-
- The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board or university or its equivalent.
- A candidate must be at least 16 years of age at the time of admission.
- A candidate should not have colour blindness problem.
- To do Aircraft Maintenance Engineering one should qualify Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Common Entrance Test (AME CET).
The AME course can be pursue through Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of India, Govt. of India, approved Institutes. AME is international license programme. The licensed AME can work in India and abroad.
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering’s license has the following categories:
Category B1 :– B1 is related to mechanical stream. It deals the engines of aircrafts. B1 is subdivided into four categories:-
- B1.1 License:- Category B1.1 license holder to issue certificates for the release of the aeroplanes with turbine engine.
- B1.2 License:- Category B1.2 license holder to issue certificate for release of the aeroplanes with piston engine.
- B1.3 License:- Category B1.3 license holder to issue certificate for release of the helicopters with turbine engine.
- B1.4 License:- Category B1.4 license holder to issue certificate for release of the helicopter with piston engine.
Category B2 :- B2 is related to avionics stream. B2 license is related to the following-
- Electrical system
- Instrument System
- Radio navigation
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Admission process:
The admission process is simple. To take admission in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course the candidate has done 12th from non- medical stream (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) or B Tech or 3 years engineering diploma in any stream. The steps you should follow are such as:-
- A candidate has to fill the form of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Common Entrance Test (AME CET) which is the national level exam.
- After clearing the exam, institutes are assigned according to the AIR in exam. The institutes are DGCA approved.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA):
DGCA is the Indian government regulatory body for civil aviation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. All the AME Institutes are DGCA approved. The candidates have to clear the modules which are conducted by DGCA. The license of AME is issued by DGCA after clearing all the modules.
Fee Structure for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course:
Fee of the institutes depends upon the Institute a candidate is given according to AIR. The fee structure is approximately INR 4 lakhs- 6 lakhs for 2 years. The salary is also high. AME have a great scope as aviation market is flying so high.
