Aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering both are related to the development and construction of types of equipment and devices. The major difference between Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering is that the first one deals with the working of machines and devices while the latter focuses on things that fly and orbit the Earth in space.
Aerospace Engineering
Aerospace engineering is the course where students get knowledge about designing, testing, and repairing commercial and military aircraft and spacecraft. Their duties include providing direction and coordination to the designing, manufacturing, and testing of an aircraft, rocket system, space shuttle, etc.
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is the course where students deal with the analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools.
A career in Aerospace Vs Mechanical
If we talk about the career opportunity in the field of both Aerospace engineering and Mechanical Engineering, then both fields have their own perks.
In aerospace engineering, you can expect to get most of the jobs in either government or military, however, there are not nearly as many job opportunities as mechanical engineering.
In mechanical engineering, you have many more job opportunities but since it is one of the widely selected fields, there is really high competition. Mechanical engineering has one more advantage, there are more institutes providing Mechanical Engineering degrees than Aerospace Engineering.
