The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has announced that it has taken several initiatives to promote sustainable development and reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector. One such initiative is the encouragement of the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The MoCA has also taken steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the airspace. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has developed a roadmap to achieve 100% renewable energy for airports, further contributing to sustainable development in the sector. These measures reflect the MoCA’s commitment to promoting sustainable aviation and reducing the environmental impact of the aviation industry.
In its efforts to promote sustainable development in the civil aviation sector, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has advised the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) to factor in the costs associated with green energy use while determining tariffs for airports. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has also taken measures to reduce energy intensity for existing and upcoming airport projects, such as publishing energy intensity data. These initiatives reflect the MoCA’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices in the aviation industry and reducing its impact on the environment.
“India’s aviation sector has experienced rapid growth in recent years, leading to an increase in carbon emissions from airports,” MoCA said, adding that it has taken a number of initiatives to promote sustainable development in the aviation sector and reduce carbon emissions at airports. Source
