The BSc in OTT synthesizes multiple domains of healthcare including surgical techniques, patient care management, and even hospital/operating room administration. To ensure that students possess sound medical knowledge, fundamental disciplines such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology are taught. A student is also trained in anesthesia technology, surgical instrumentation, infection control, and sterilization, ensuring that surgical procedures are performed in a safe and efficient environment. Moreover, studies in Pathology and emergency management equip a student with critical situation handling skills for the operation theatre.
As much as technical occupations require expertise, the student also learns hospital administration, medical law (ethics), and the science of communication for proper inter-staff collaboration. Practical lessons enable students to practice surgical assistance along with direct observation of patients, operational nursing, and utilization as well as maintenance of surgical instruments. They are also taught modern imaging and robotics applications in medicine. Graduates are expected to be employed in general hospitals, trauma rooms, and operating theatres as a primary scrubs nurse, which are essential for carrying out critically important surgical procedures.
