Ques: Are there any entrance exams for LLB admissions?

In India, entry into LLB courses, particularly five-year integrated courses (BA LLB, BBA LLB, BSc LLB), is mostly through entrance tests. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most recognized test for National Law Universities (NLUs), whereas the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is organized by NLU Delhi. LSAT India is another common test accepted by private law colleges, while Symbiosis Law School administers the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). Some of the universities, like DU and MH CET Law, also have their own entrance tests.

For three-year LLB courses, most universities accept students on the basis of state or university-level tests like the DU LLB Entrance Exam and Maharashtra CET Law. These are usually tests for legal aptitude, logical reasoning, general awareness, and English language. A few private universities give direct merit-based admission. Potential students of law should verify the individual eligibility criteria and entry requirements of the institutions of their choice to ensure they fulfill the application deadline and preparation needs.
