The B.Tech in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a four-year undergraduate degree that aims to equip students with the knowledge of computer science, networking, and telecommunication systems. The course is divided into eight semesters, which last six months each. It integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical training to ensure that students have a solid foundation in programming, data structures, cybersecurity, and wireless communication. Others have industry-oriented specializations like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), or Cloud Computing.
Laboratory work, internships, and even an industry project that takes place through the course. Major projects or dissertations often make up the final year when students are expected to solve practical ICT challenges by applying their knowledge. Quite a few universities provide research opportunities and collaborations with the tech companies. Graduates can go for careers in software development, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and data analytics or opt for higher studies like M.Tech, MBA, or research programs. Institutions like IIIT Hyderabad, DAIICT, and NITs are well known for their B.Tech ICT programs.
