One's acceptance of a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is however, not universal. For instance, many countries will allow graduates to operate their medical laboratories, but only after meeting certain accreditation requirements (licensing exams, certification, etc.). Agencies like NAAC (India), ASCP (USA), and HCPC (UK) help foreign credibility. Certain countries will also have local restrictions where some professional experience or additional local qualifications are needed to abide by the healthcare laws.
For example business, in the US and UK, Canada and Australia, medical lab specialists are allowed to practice only after passing proficiency tests such as ASCP, AMT, and CSMLS. The same goes for some other EU states which require certain qualifications from overseas doctors. It is best to check with the target countries if considering working abroad. BSc MLT holders will greatly benefit by earning an accredited degree or other certifications to enhance their employment opportunities and mobility.
