The Bachelor of Computer Applications is an undergrad IT degree that takes three years to complete and provides a basic understanding of Computer Science, Programming, and Software development. Various parts of the degree include managing databases, networking, web development, and data structure which students learn across six semesters. Some nations like The USA and Canada provide an extended four-year program which includes additional research and internships. With the hybrid degree, students can pursue careers in the IT sector, software development, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
In India, BCA Colleges are mostly established as three year systems where students are required to complete a set amount of theoretical learning, practical sessions, project completion, and internships. Still, after the New Education Policy NEP 2020, there has been a gradual shift towards the implementation of a four year hybrid degree approach. Students can pursue higher education with an MCA – Masters in Computer Applications, or further specialize into Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, or Cloud Computing.
