The fee structure varies a lot among different institutions for the B.Tech course based on the choice of specialization, and geographical locations. On an average, one may have to pay around ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 per annum in government colleges. In case of private institutes, the charges might go higher up to ₹3,00,000 in a year. Even some good institutes like the IITs or NITs may attract slightly higher amount which may touch up to ₹2.5 lakhs a year. These fees usually pay for tuition, library, laboratory, and examination-related fees.
In addition to these basic fees, students may have to pay extra for hostel accommodation, transport, course materials, and extracurricular activities. Scholarships and fee concession may be granted to the meritorious or the economically weaker section of students. Although government-funded institutions have relatively cheaper fees, private universities offer more facilities, which makes them charge more. It is, therefore, important to do research and budget for the whole cost, including other expenses during the B.Tech period.
