The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is the regulatory body for civil aviation in India. It issues several categories of aircraft maintenance engineer AME License to individuals who are qualified to perform maintenance and repairs on aircraft and aircraft components.

Composite stream: Authorizes the holder to maintain and repair aircraft composite structures and materials.
Rotary wing stream: Authorizes the holder to maintain and repair helicopters and other rotary wing aircraft.
